Ukulele Artists/Bands

I'd like to add my uke music to the list. I've been recording a uke fusion CD and with the help of fellow musicians I've been blending in a lot of modern day instruments. Drums, electric guitars/bass, flute, synthesizers etc. I'd love to see the uke go more mainstream as it is such an awesome instrument! My music is a mix of rock, indie, flamenco, and a bit of jazz. http://www.scottstahlecker.com Check out a few songs when you get a chance and tell me what you all think.

Don't forget Zooey Deschanel of She & Him.

Been listening to lots of stuff from Japan lately. A few more to add to the list:

Sweet Hollywaiians
Kuricorder Quartet
Matsui Tomotaka
Kondo Kenji
Ban Ban Bazaar
Kobayashi Kiyoshi
Tsuji Ayano

Our band, "Kanekoa" would love to make the list. Kanekoa features Vince Esquire on Ukulele has been jamming rock, roots, jam stuff for over a decade now on Maui and West Coast America. See the site for a Bio, of note had a couple tunes in movies and our band appeared as actors in the Ben Stiller Film, "The Heartbreak Kid" and Vince has jammed and recorded a live-dueling ukes track with Jake Shimabukuro http://kanekoamusic.com

There are so many artists on here it's going to take some time to give them all a listen, but the three I've heard so far are great! I'll be buying Ryan Suzuka's disc, and many others I'm sure.

grace and peace,
sam

Please add me (Ronin Wong) I've played in large gigs around Vancouver, including the Winter Olympics, and other city events in and around the Greater Vancouver region. Also, I'm pioneering the creation of large ukulele video collaborations. The two I've done have featured from 40 to 70 different ukulele players from around the world.

oh really? pioneering?

I didn't mean I started it. There's only been a few out there. I think there are less than 10 really large ones., seeso, John, and Sebi, Without their work, I wouldn't have had the idea to do it. But, I think we are still in the early stages. I think we are just barely starting out. I look forward to seeing the others yet to come. Are there more of these I haven't heard about? I thought pioneering was a perfectly cromulant term.

I would like to add my fledgling indie band, The FreeFallers :) All of our songs feature ukulele and have a distinctly upbeat tone. We are working on getting our current written material to live-show quality, and working on recording our first EP. (For those of you who remember the first "single" we threw together, we have polished that up with ACTUAL vocals recorded, and will be re-recording the ukulele now that we have a better one available.)

Also, I'm attempting to throw together a solo "act" under the name Phil The Uker :p I'll be working on doing some local gigs and open mic nights, and also an acoustic album of FreeFaller's songs that I've written, and my own personal stuff.

Thanks so much!

-Phil

My band, "The Crazed Mugs," just released our second album in October. There's ukulele on every song (usually two or three).

Song samples are on iTunes, Amazon, Google Music, etc., and on our website. http://www.crazedmugs.com/
