For now, this is a local only deal. I don’t want to ship this. I’d like whoever wants to buy it to have the opportunity to see and play it first.

Transaction/exchange will be in Southwest Portland, OR.

The good; It’s a Kamaka tenor, maybe 1970’s era. It plays comfortably, even up the neck. I think it sounds quite nice as well. It has geared tuners.

The other: I’ve got a thread in Uke Talk about this that should be easy to find. I bought this for $500 about a decade ago from someone who had repaired it. The body had been damaged badly. The entire back was replaced with a newer piece of (I might be wrong?) mahogany. There is quite a bit of visible damage on the top where Humpty Dumpty was pieced back together. Currently, there is a crack that runs along the grain that probably needs attention. It isn’t causing problems yet, but it is open and should probably be closed.

Just so you know, I can’t imagine - short of replacing the top and back with new koa - anyone is going to make this seem new again. However, it already plays quite nicely. I think with a little TLC it could carry on making music for a long time. It’s a bit of a restoration project, but you are starting with a playable instrument.

I plan to list this on Craigslist this week if no local interest here. Apologies, but I really don’t want to ship it. In person sale only.

Lower price.

GLWS, gee, who'd wanna harm a kamaka? Bet someone will snatch this up right away and high tail it to a luthier!

I put this away for most of last year, then started playing it again. Now I’m adding a few other instruments and need to make some room. I have a couple nice, newer Pono tenors I play. So I’ll bump this.

I suppose I might trade for a basic open back Deering Goodtime banjo. (I have a friend who is making me a banjo, so I should get my clawhammer working!)

Because of the condition, it’s still a local only sale in Portland, Oregon. I want to make certain whoever buys it can get their hands in it first. It deserves a good home.

Mods, if you need a newer dated photo I can do that Friday.

I lowered the price and updated some details. Again, just due to what this is, I want to keep it local to the Portland area. Thanks!
