Something that is used to better align the strings with the slots in the nut when the tuners posts aren't directly in line with the slots. What is string tree?
Very mysterious!!!!I can oblige with a pic. Here's the headstock of my newest keeper, in line with the prior posts (pun intended).

Wow, there is even a table involved. This is excellent p***, very considerate p***.I got Millar TK-260W (tenor) shipped from England to me in the US a couple weeks ago. It uses cypress for the front and rosewood for the back, sides, bridge, and fretboard.
Tried to make these photos as sexy as my horrible lighting and shaking smartphone would allow.

View attachment 145653 Looks like a guitar if you squint enough. View attachment 145657 The view when playing, or something close to it. View attachment 145660 The curly maple trim is hard to photograph unless the brightness is turned way down. Ripples very nicely in person. View attachment 145656 You can see some flaws/gaps in the rope binding in one of the lighter color woods in the bottom of the next picture. View attachment 145658 Slotted headstocks with open-geared tuners can't be beat, at least to my eye. And excuse my laziness in not trimming the strings. I did install them only a week and a half ago. View attachment 145659 Great looking rosewood on the back and sides.
