Is it just fine to find the chords for the guitar version and play those chords on the uke? I know a lot of songs I want to learn to cover over time but none are available on uke that I can find, aside from a couple/few videos.

I can find guitar tabs all over but I wanted to double check that I could just transpose onto the uke without and really conversion for the proper sound. Am on guitar = Am on uke?

Yes - a chord is a chord, just a different shape is all. If it calls for an F, guitar will be 003211 and the uke will be 2010.

another question, that isn't worth its own thread really...

i'm looking at these tabs for "20 Excuses" by the Supervillains and it slides from F# to A. From what i'm looking at that is |3121|(F#) and |2100| (A). Is there an alteration of F# that would suit the situation better or should I just not do the slide?

Yea, one of them watchyacall "moveable chords" . . . F#/Gb (3121), G (4232), G# (5343), A (6454), A# (7565), B (8676), C (9787)
