Hey everyone,

Well, the strangest thing happened..
There I was checking out videos on Youtube to help me decide which kind of banjo to buy, when I found this guy playing great old country and gospel songs on a ukulele.
I'd never even thought about, let alone considered a uke before, but, well .. here I am!

My first Uke ( Baton Rouge VC2 Sun Concert) arrived just a few days ago. I couldn't really get anywhere in person to pick one out, so I did a lot of homework and got some final deciding advice from the helpful peeps at SUS.
Although, obviously, I've no experience of other ukes to compare it with, I'm pleased with my choice so far.
Looks wise, it ain't a beauty, but it makes a pretty sound and I'm comfortable 'playing' (hmm) it :D

Here's a review for anyone just about to buy the first uke.

I bought the 'Dummies' book and watched some videos to get me started, and even after a day or two I'm really pleased with my progress.
I've got a 5 chord version of This Land Is Your Land going pretty good, especially the fretting. The strum I'm finding a little harder, but I can already hear an improvment from earlier on this evening.
I'll get there.. slowly, slowly..

Anyway, good to be here and have a great weekend!

Welcome to UU. :)
