Do any reliable ukulele dealers sell Cordoba in the USA? I've only ever seen them at places like Guitar Center where there is essentially no store quality control or setup and the factory setup is at best mediocre.

My first ukulele was a Cordoba CM20. I got it on Ebay. Amazon also sell them (the 24C), but like you said no setup or quality control. Returns are easy on amazon though.

Can't speak for USA myself, but none in the UK do. Think that is a fair point you make - although on this one it worked out ok

I know that Easy Music and Elderly are well known retailers, but do either of them do setups to customer specifications or fix poor quality factory setups before shipping?

"Elderly Instruments has been servicing and repairing instruments since 1972. We were among the first stores to establish the policy of inspecting every instrument that we sell. That’s become even more important in the age of internet shopping, where in many cases no one is looking at the instrument between the factory and your doorstep. Virtually every fretted instrument we sell — including acoustic, electric, and resonator guitars, banjos, mandolins, and ukuleles — is inspected and set up by our repair shop personnel to ensure the best playability."

Good to hear that Elderly claims to do their own setups. How satisfied are you with their service?
Easy Music says they will give you a discount on their setup service with new instrument purchases.

I bought a Gretsch concert from Elderly.com and didn't have any special set-up request .
Their customer service is the best I've experienced .
The shipping packaging is the best .
Received the uke without any issue .

I bought a Martin C1K from Easy Music in store off the rack , no set-up .

These are 2 Cordoba dealers that came to mind .
Depending on where your located there may be other options .

One of my first ukes was a Cordoba 20TM; still have it, still love it. Came with perfect intonation.

I ordered it through a local music store, and it was NOT the same instrument labeled as a Cordoba 20TM at Guitar Center. Much nicer that what GC had to offer.

I've seen quite a few Cordoba instruments - and, whilst in the UK they are not stocked by uke specialists, they each arrived with acceptable QC and setup. Usually pretty good builds too.

What I can't put my finger on though is why they didn't ever really excite me. I used the term 'safe' in the video - and I think that works - kind of workhorses, but not 'out of this world' horses.

Loved this one though!

Sweetwater also stocks Cordoba. They are a reputable place, although I don't know that they do any set up

I think you're right about getting lucky with the looks on that example. After your review I did some searching for concert and soprano examples and not a one came close.

I've been going to Elderly since 1974. I know them very well. You won't find a better, more reliable store to do business with.

I've bought numerous guitars, banjos, mandolins, ukes, dulcimers, and basses from them...always satisfied. A great group of people, including a dedicated repair staff.

In fact, I'm going to be there again on Tuesday. ☺️

I can't say the Córdoba 15CM mahogany concert I bought in the hope of interesting my wife in the ukulele inspired me enough to adopt it for my own use, but Córdoba do some excellent guitars. Yamaha also took over Guild Guitars in the deal, which has had a bit of a chequered history. The press release also states "other CMG brands include Savarez®, and Aquila®, of which CMG acts as primary importer and U.S. distributor to retail stores" which should prove of interest to both the guitar and ukulele communities, I hope for good reasons.

Ive had cordoba soprano, concert, and tenor ukes from guitar center and they all played well. I learned on cordobas. I’d recommend a cordoba any day.

What was it that was uninspiring? You see Cordobas fairly commonly at second-hand sources (GW, CL, etc). Maybe there's just a lot of em out there?

As Yamaha already has broad portfolio of classic guitars but no full line of ukes, this leads me to speculate that the takeover of Cordoba was to get a foot into the uke business. I would not bet surprised to see more uke product development and marketing for this brand.
