I am wondering if I we can have a conversation on the choices of 6 string ukuleles as well as which manufacturer excels and why? I am seeing used 6 stringers for sale out there that seem to be suffering a lot from the forces 6 strings inflict over time.

Playability, intonation, sustain, sound and bracing is what comes to mind right now. I have played a sweet 6 string Koaloha a few weeks ago. I see tons of Kamakas on ebay coming exclusively out of Japan for some peculiar reason.

This is an innovation from Kamaka and they are the benchmark. I have a white label Kamaka that had a few repairs and a lot of mojo but is still going strong. In a store I had opportunity to compare 6 string versions of all three big K brands and I loved them all. So it comes down to budget and personal preference. The cheap Asian built ones don't come close to Hawaiian ones for sure.
