UAS strikes hard... and what was your most recent irrational purchase?

To me, an irrational ukulele purchase is one where you had no intention (or need) for another uke in your arsenal but bought it anyway.

Listing Removed: KoAloha Opio Spruce/Acacia (Prototype) Concert - MINT

That's right. I've been wanting to buy an Opio for a while now, but I waited until she had them in stock. I want to see what this famous setup is all about!

Yes! I’m super excited to get mine. It’s coming in from Mim’s Ukes later this week.

Listing Removed: KoAloha Opio Spruce/Acacia (Prototype) Concert - MINT

My mistake. I just bought an acacia Opio and they don't have the crown.

Listing Removed: KoAloha Opio Spruce/Acacia (Prototype) Concert - MINT

Looks great, though it’s probably not a prototype. The Opio line doesn’t have the crown at the bottom of the fretboard.

    When active learning stops

Maybe try live lessons with an instructor or something like the video exchanges on ArtistWorks? I find the feedback from Craig and Sarah has helped me improve immensely, as well as try things I might not normally try. Playing with a local group has also provided great motivation to improve.

Eastern MA / Southern NH - Ukulele Fusion Group

That was before my time, but yes, it's an atypical uke group. One of our founding members writes all the arrangements himself. There is some chord strumming, but the music is primarily arranged for fingerpicking/flatpicking.

Eastern MA / Southern NH - Ukulele Fusion Group

Our group is looking to grow our ranks! We're looking for ukulele players in the region interested in more formal instrumental ukulele music. We play mostly 5-part music including melody, counter-melody, harmonies, and chords. Our music provides parts for re-entrant (soprano, concert, and...

    Aquila Red

I put a set on my concert last week, for the first time. I like their sound much more than the regular Aquilas, though they are a bit noisy under the fingers. In any case, no breakage. Prior to buying them, I watched a few videos about the reds and their reputation for snapping. I think Alex...

The bridge on my Mainland appears to be coming off

Ah got it. It’s a metal wound Nyglut string from Aquila.

The bridge on my Mainland appears to be coming off

Is this a general problem with wound strings, or do you think this uke might be especially prone to issues?

The bridge on my Mainland appears to be coming off

Bridge removal and reglue was a success. I think the only reason the bridge hadn’t come off completely was because of two tiny nails at the front. I wasn’t able to put the nail back in, but the holes were invaluable in making sure the alignment was correct before gluing. Thanks for everyone’s help.

The bridge on my Mainland appears to be coming off

Like @bbkobabe said, this is not a very expensive ukulele so this will be a DIY job. I have a heat gun to soften the remaining adhesive, clamps, and various instruments of destruction. I'll need to grab some Titebond, if that's what folks recommend. I'll keep you posted on how it goes...

The bridge on my Mainland appears to be coming off

Assuming I can take off the strings without breaking it, what adhesive do you recommend I use to repair the damage?
