    Bad ukulele habits?

I didn't accuse him of taking a "negative approach," and the title of his thread indicates his interest in "bad" habits. Research indicates that it may be more successful to emphasize doing it right rather than "not" doing it wrong, but perfectly fine for you to disagree.

    Bad ukulele habits?

I'll put this out to consider, borrowed from the world of golf instruction ...... Neurophysiology studies have shown that the human body responds better to "do" commands than "don't" commands, for example, "swing towards the target" works better than "don't come over the top." So it may be...

    My Current "Workbooks"

I think I've posted this before but IMO it bears repeating. The most valuable tool I found is the book "First Learn to Practice." What a difference it has made, and I keep wondering "what if" with regards to having had it for the obligatory piano lessons as a child. Second on my list is...

    Thinking about getting a pad

From my experience, I would say that the iPad is the best tablet device. But, for bang for the buck and if one's needs are more limited (i.e. the stuff you do on the device is not complex) I think the Fire tablet from BigRiver is pretty darn good. Plus on Prime day or Black Friday you can...

    Is "Anchoring" Acceptable When Fingerpicking?

An instructor told me that it is an absolute no-no, but watch some accomplished guitarists perform and you will see a lot of anchoring. On this one, I'm believing the "those that can, do" approach myself as opposed to "those who can't, teach."

Blues in the chord of c

Contacted him directly. Maybe the price has skyrocketed with inflation.

I don't think this is cool at all

Concur wholeheartedly. No one is forced to read or participate in this thread, or any other, so if anyone does not like it they can ignore it. Why close it? Reminds me of the Covid thread when someone called for closure, saying they "just don't want to see that topic on a ukulele forum." OK...

Blues in the chord of c

Two things that I have found helpful: The book "Ukulele Blues" by Bruce Emery. Costs all of $10 and he ships for free (plus he signed my copy!). In my failed attempt to play guitar, I came across the statement that someone who can do basic bends, slides, hammer ons, double stops reasonably...

    Questions for Bari Players

Interesting thread -- thanks for starting it and thanks to all who have contributed. Do you bari players find that "adopting" certain genres of guitar music, say classic rock, is easier with the bari due to the comparatively larger amount of instructional guitar material (tab, youtube, etc.)...

I don't think this is cool at all

I may have erroneously conflated calls to close the thread and comments about shutting down the YT video with censorship of ULTP.

I don't think this is cool at all

Exactly what I was reminded of -- car sales. There have been some pretty successful car dealerships that have made a lot of money with similar tactics, and there is "hype" to some extent in just about all selling. But let the market figure it out. "Shutting ULTP videos down" or "silencing...

I don't think this is cool at all

That's a really interesting perspective, since ukes and guitars are so similar. I wonder why there is such a cultural difference regarding setups?

    Carbon Fiber Baritones

Great information and ideas, thank you! I never really got anywhere with guitar (not that I'm any good on ukulele but certainly better than guitar and it's more enjoyable), which I always attributed to the wider neck and fret spacing. Seems like the baritone would open up a lot of opportunity...

Which Enya Nova uke would you buy?

The folks I play with that have Novas favor the concert. I really like the thin body, and agree that the overall size seems closer to a tenor than a concert.

    Carbon Fiber Baritones

Would it be feasible to take two strings off the Go to fashion it into a baritone uke? If so, seems like a good option.

Uke Like the Pros Questionable Business Practices

A simple, equitable solution that works for all. Those who have heard enough can choose to ignore the thread. Those who would like to continue reading/discussing can choose to continue. Group A does not mandate what group B is allowed to do, or not do, and vice versa.

Uke Like the Pros Questionable Business Practices

And I'll agree with your disagreement (I was being sarcastic) ...... yet I have seen calls for such censorship on this forum, as well as elsewhere. Sad.

Uke Like the Pros Questionable Business Practices

IMO if not taken literally, which is how I chose to take them, Bill1's comments in this thread have merit (and the post quoted above is more in that tone). That is, anyone with an ax to grind for any reason can choose to disseminate defamatory information about a vendor whether true or false...

    'Uke Like the Pros' courses

I did The Ukulele Way for a few months. I found it helpful and reasonably priced for what it is.

Love my Enya Nova U Pro Carbon Fiber tenor!

That's really interesting. When I played one the neck profile seemed relatively slim and narrow, but I guess it depends on what one is comparing it to.
