    Low G Stringing Low G

Yeah, once is pretty standard for a low g :)

To the more experienced players - Have you held onto your first ukulele?

The right answer is not up there. I've kept it because it is important to my wife. I'd get rid of it if I could.

    Tuning question

Can you post a video of what is happening? It's really hard to tell without seeing it.

    Learning uke and guitar simultaneously?

I play the uke and I'm now learning the guitar as well. I think the skills transfer pretty well, and you'll be able to keep them separate in your head, so go for it :)

Why am I utterly incapable of barre chords?

When you barre, do you only try to apply pressure by squeezing? I was going to write a write a long explanation, but Bluesy was kind enough to post a video saying everything that I was going to say, so have a look at that, instead...

    Wound High G

AFAIK, winding a string is to add mass without necessarily adding thickness, so it allows you to have lower pitches without sounding muddy. I don't think it is anything to do with adding emphasis. The high G string is already really thin, and if you wound it, just think how thin you would have...

    Wound High G

What would you achieve with a wound high G? I can understand a wound C. Maybe even E, although I've never heard of such a thing. But why would you have a wound high G and not E?

Bear Claw or Antarctic Toothfish? I need help.

Nah, I think it's just a description of the markings. Some people like it and some people don't, but it's not inferior.

Why are some saddles compensated and others not? what is the purpose of a compensated saddle? Do they complicate string changes?

Compensated saddles are in order to improve string intonation by making some strings slightly longer than others. They don't (usually) make string changes any more complicated. Angled saddles are just a primitive form of compensated saddles.

    Echoes of Aloha (Mele) Strings

They felt kind of plasticky, I didn't like the feel of the thin gauge, and they didn't produce the sort of sparkly overtones that you get with fluorocarbons or the volume that you get with nylgut. I'm sure there are people who like them - the just aren't my cup of tea. As for other rectified...

    G/B

It means play a G chord with B as the lowest note. On a low G ukulele, this would be 4232

I want to play my ukulele next to a guitarist

Yeah, but why is it in another key? Why not just write it in the key you play it in so you won't have to use a capo?

I want to play my ukulele next to a guitarist

Nah, I just genuinely don't understand.
