Kamaka with finished fretboard

I obtained a gold label Kamaka soprano that has a lacquer-like finish on the fretboard. I'm trying to figure out if it was finished by Kamaka, or by a previous owner. Does anyone know if Kamaka finished their fretboards during that era?

I've never seen a Kamaka with a lacuered fretboard. Has to be refinished. Maybe the whole body is refinished as well.
