It's 4.15am right now, so I can't play this out loud, but I'll get some footage of it tomorrow. Song is called Rooks on the Seventh. It's about how navigating relationships and emotions can be as confusing and complicated as learning to play chess. The song is superficially about someone who was in a winning position but blundered their rooks and lost; really it's about how at 33 I thought I was world-wise and had 'life experience' now, but realized I really don't. I thought I was an ice cold logical person, but quickly found I'm far too soft-hearted. A guy I'm talking to just tried to move far too fast and was talking about moving to another country for me; it was a big push to muster up the courage to tell him 'no, don't do that, that's reckless.'

Lyrics:

His eyes met mine across the black and white tiles
How do I navigate these many-headed vicious intrigues?

He said I'll swim across the ocean for you

Rooks poised high on the seventh rank
Fazed by the harsh white lights I blunder

The white queen swooped low and threatened to pierce my defenses
I moved a black knight high and took her, I thought I was wise

He said I'll swim across the ocean for you

Rooks poised high on the seventh rank
Fazed by the harsh white lights I blunder

He said I'll swim across the ocean for you
I didn't mean to make him think we were joined by such binds

Rooks poised high on the seventh rank
Fazed by the harsh white lights I blunder

Rooks poised high on the seventh rank
Fazed by the harsh white lights I blunder

I'll play this tomorrow for yall; I think E A Db A suits best, I can easily use a dark, moody moveable chord in that tuning.
