You can also put some in a paper coffee filter, and staple it closed. Make sure it can fit through the sound hole.

    What's for Super Bowl?

No Oakland (LV) Raiders, so not interested in the game, but the commercials should be decent. I have tree branches to trim in backyard, so probably just peak at the score every quarter.

What's the best non-wood ukulele top material?

Personally, My favorite is ABS but only because that's all I have experience with - my Kalena ABS Concert Pineapple, and my Bugsgear Aqualele also ABS. These are my inclement weather & beach/boat 'ukuleles. I hope to one day add a carbon-fiber Enya to my "quiver".

What is your dream uke, what’s the “best” one you’ve played, and what uke has surprised you?

    1. My dream 'ukulele is not a new one. My dream is to somehow get my dad's original 1957 koa Kamaka pineapple back that was stolen over 45 years ago. 2. Besides that I already own my dream, best sound, most playable 'ukulele my custom super-concert pineapple solid milo wood with ebony fret...

    Hexalele or Coffinlele?

I did think about eliminating the lid, and thus reducing the depth of the body by about an inch. It looks doable. Here's the link, and some photos. Good luck, and have fun! (y) https://www.ebay.com/itm/313645631370

    Hexalele or Coffinlele?

It's an unused, unfinished box, a craft supply to turn into whatever you will. It would actually make a nice coffin for a small deceased pet. I kind of found it by accident while searching for "cigar box" to turn into a 'ukulele. I had been using wooden ginseng tea boxes from Korea, but I...

    Hexalele or Coffinlele?

Aloha UU 'Ohana. My latest creation is a soprano scale 'ukulele based on a elongated 6 sided box, a hexagon shaped more or less like a coffin. I'm not goth, I don't do Halloween, I'm not obsessed with death, and I don't want anyone to mistakenly think I am after looking at my latest creation...

    Today's Chuckle

What's the difference between a cross-eyed soldier, and a constipated owl? The cross-eyed soldier shoots, and shoots, and can't hit. The constipated owl hoots, and hoots, and can't sh!t.

    Dating my uke

I used to own an old koa Kumalae. Previous owner used steel strings which caused a warp. Had to steam some of it out. Also repaired a couple hairline cracks using hide glue. I put on a set of cat-gut strings using new ebony violin pegs to replace the missing ones. It sounded great, but I...

No Longer Manufactured / Not the same

I think you mean amalgam fillings which is 50% liquid mercury combined with a powered alloy of silver, copper, & tin. Supposedly, once hardened the mercury is inert, at least that's what dentists say. Not sure what's worse lead or mercury, but neither can be good for you. Both the villagers...

63 and no dain bramage that I could tell. 🤪 Another childhood activity was fishing from the afore mentioned backyard dock. We used to use pure lead split-shot weights on our lines to get the bait down to where the fish were. These shots looked like miniature lead "Packmans" and we would...

No Longer Manufactured / Not the same

I worked in a local hardware store for 3 years in the early 1980s, and they were selling creosote by the gallon. I think it was old stock, and half-priced. My dad bought a couple gallon to use on a boat dock in his backyard stream. It was an amazing wood preservative. I also remember back...
