    Kamaka identification

Local store has a Kamaka soprano, looks like it might be a Gold Label which I read means 1955-1970s. The wood looks like it might be something other than koa. I'd like some help identifying what it is and what the value might be. Thanks

    Aurora strings

I received two sets of Aurora strings today, red for my Kala KA-KC and blue for my Bushman Echo. I like them so far. Take into account, however, that I am pretty new to the Ukulele and this is the first time I've changed strings. The Kala's intonation is better with the new strings and I like...

    Stupid chord question

Quick question, when reading music that others have made available, I often see something like "A/G#", can someone fill me in on what this means?

    question about volume differences

I'm still very new to ukes and had a question. I have a Kala Koa concert and I also have a Bushman Echo soprano (laminated). The soprano seems louder and "punchier" while the Kala is quieter. Is this what is to be expected? Thanks,

How would this work setup as a uke?

I saw a Saga electric mandolin kit and got to thinking about setting it up as an ukulele, any opinions on it? I'm not sure what the scale length is. http://www.amazon.com/Saga-MT-10-Electric-Mandolin-Build/dp/B001KMS9RS

Washburn Romp mic - Question for electronics expert

I bought and installed a Washburn romp mic system in my Kala. The price was right, and it does work, but feed back and tone aren't quite what I wanted. This system has a preamp built into the endpin jack. I was thinking that a good mod would be to replace the mic with a piezo element. It...

    New Kala Buzz/Rattle

I have a fairly new Kala Koa concert and just yesterday I noticed a very annoying buzz or rattle when plucking the C string. It seems to be coming from the bridge area rather than the frets. I can't seem to find anything amiss with it. I did install a Washburn Romp into it a few weeks ago. I...

    Bushman Echo?

I had someone contact me through a local Craigslist ad I have placed. He has a Bushman Echo he may be interested in dealing with me on for a trade for another item I have. I googled the name and can't find any info on this model. Is anyone here familiar with it? Any kind of description of it...

    Today's "DUH" moment

I was looking through some of my guitar books this evening, excited to see that quite a few Robert Earl Keen songs were fairly simple chord-wise. But then, I noticed that several of my favorites were actually played with a capo. So, I started the work of transposing to the correct key for the...

Question about changing saddle and nut material

Just curious, how would my ukulele's tone change if I changed the factory nut and saddle to ivory? I have a Kala Koa concert with the syn-bone.

    Washburn Romp mic on ukulele?

Has anyone tried the Washburn Romp endpin mic that is mentioned in the stickied article? I would like to hear how it sounds and how much output there is and any feedback issues. The price seems right! My current amps are a Pignose and an Epiphone Valve Junior.

    Hello from Colorado...

I've been lurking for a couple of weeks and today I purchased my first ukulele, a Kala Koa concert on eBay from MGM. I'm sure I'll have lot's of questions in the near future. I've payed guitar for quite a few years, so I'm not a total beginner.
