    Martin Vintage 1960s Sopranos

Hello Guys, I have two Martin Style 0 Sopranos in mind. Both have the word "Made in USA" Stamp inside. So they were built 1962 or later. My question is now, how can I date them and be sure they are Vintage (not newer than 1960s)? I can separate them from the recent ones, but I think...

    Vintage martin tenor or not?

Hello Guys, i bought a martin tenor ukulele, but i wonder now if its a vintage one or a newer model? It has more of a glossy finish and a serial number number in the inside. There is also the "Nazareth" stamp on a stripe of spruce in the middle. Here are some pictures.

    Old Martin Ukuleles Intonation

I have a question about the really old martin ukuleles (from about 1920, with wooden tuners). How is the intonation on them? I know that it depends, but are they decent, or more of a mess in general. Kumalaes from that time period were never made with the intention of a good intonation i...

looking for a saw to cut corian / bone for saddles

Hello Guys, i wonder what type of saw would be the best for cutting saddles out of corian or bone? I often have to cut new saddles for ukuleles and i would like to use a block of corian, thats by far the cheapest way. I would favor to use a "scroll saw", but im not sure if they have enough...

Tones too low on higher frets

Hello Guys, There is something I noticed among several ukes and I wonder what causes this and how to fix it. The intonation at the first couple frets is good, but the more I move on the fretboard the less good it gets. I seen some bad built ukes where the frets were not at the right...

    Pono vs Koolau

I always wondered what's the difference between koolau and pono ukes construction wise. So far I only know that koolau are built on Hawaii from their luthier, and ponos on Java in a factory. I wonder what's different in other parts of the construction. Are koolaus lighter, and have a...

    Intonation Sharp on C String

Hello Guys, i have a Ukulele that has a sharp intionation on the C String ( About 20+). The Intonation gets better if you move up the fretboard, at fret 12 its about 5+, what i would be fine with. But the first frets are really bad. The problem shouldnt be the string height at the nut, (fret...

I think I got scammed, what to do?

I bought a Martin Style 1k from reverb, and I wasn't aware that there are scams too. I bought it immediately, because it was a really good (yes maybe too good) price and got suspicious later. 500 €, but it was refinished and with lacquer cracks, so I thought it would be a good, but...

    Vintage vs old koaloha ukes

Im thinking of buying a vintage soprano koaloha. It should be from about 1998 - 2000. Price would be about 450 € ind good condition. Since here is not much koaloha stuff available and the same model is new over 1000 € that could be a good deal. But I don't know how the old koaloha models...
