Have been away from UU for a number of years....time to get back! This is still the BEST ukulele site anywhere!

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, what are your plans? For me, staying home with just the family, turkey with all the trimmings, a fire in the fireplace and some uke playing.....between the football games of course!

Can anybody recommend a beginner book on slack key guitar, or any site on the net? (I have been looking but with no luck!) I currently play the ukulele and want to start to learn slack key. (I love the music!) I already have a basic acoustic guitar. Thanks!!!!

Does anybody have any experience with an external pick up? Are they any good? This is for a Kamaka Concert and not really wanting to drill into the uke. Mahalo for any help!!!!

I am in the market looking to buy a new amp for my 8 string uke. Looking for some input from fellow UUers as to what amp they either have or have used and if they liked it or hated it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks!! :cool:

Here are some pics of the vintage Kamaka Pineapple uke I received for my birthday. :cool:

Aloha, I just received from my family a vintage Kamaka Pineapple Ukulele 1920 -1930. It has four cracks in the body. The rest is in very good condition. All is original, bindings are in great shape. Just the cracks. My question, shoud I try to seal the cracks using Hyde Glue or leave it alone...

Going to Hawaii with the whole family clan in the summer of 2011. My brother-in-law, plays guitar, wants to get a Baritone uke while in Hawaii. Any thoughts? We will be in Honolulu and on Maui.

Just noticed that Jake will be playing at the Brooklyn Bowl on 1/20/11. It was on his web site! All tickets are general admission but cost only $5.00!!! Doors open at 6pm and show is at 9pm.

Sadly, today baseball lost yet another ledgend, Sparky Anderson. The only manager to win the World Series in both leagues. He was a great coach and a great person. He will be missed!! I grew up watching him coach the Reds in the 70's then on to the Tigers. They don't make coaches like him...
