    Another humidity question

I live on an island north of Seattle, where the relative humidity in the house is 50-55% except on a few rare days. We even have a dehumidifier in our bedroom. I've found no need to humidify ukes on any but those rare days, and have never had a problem in 10+ years of keeping solid wood...

    Kanile'a 25th Anniversary Model

At $2500, it's priced like their other tenors made with premium koa.

    Ka-lae

I rescued one of those from a garage sale about 4 years ago. It's not in playable condition and I've never looked into the cost of repair. It's strictly a display model at this point.

    Fluke restring question

I like Worth browns on my concert Flea. They give a warmer tone than the Aquilas that it came with.

An elementary lesson in neuro-plastics- trying to teach my brain to play left-handed!

After I had surgery on my left (non-dominant) hand a few years ago, I thought I'd re-string a uke and learn to fret with my right hand. My experience was similar to the OP's, could hardly even hold the uke properly. I eventually gave up the idea and just practiced finger-picking patterns until...

Best Strings for Baritone 20" scale Uke? (soloing, blues, slide, and guitar sound)

I like Living Water, which are available from Uke Republic, Magic Fluke, or Ken Middleton. I play finger-style.

I took the KoAloha factory tour in March and was told they were going to start selling their strings.

    Fret Wire Size?

I find fatter frets to be more forgiving of technique, but they are harder to slide on. My 2014 KoAloha concert has the thinnest frets of any of my ukes.

Why no fret #3 fret dots?

My Kanile'a has fretboard and side dots at the 3rd fret, but none of my other five ukes has 3rd fret dots. Like Blank Williams I use the fret dots. When I play, the uke naturally falls into an angle with the fretboard facing up a bit.

    Does Kamaka only use koa?

Kamaka makes some models with a cedar top, including the Ohta-san.

    String winders

D'addario makes one that includes a pin puller (in case you have a pin bridge). But the keys on tuning machines come in many different shapes & sizes, so you may not find a precise fit.

    Long Neck Soprano vs. Concert

If you use the same strings the tension will be higher on a concert neck.

    Concert Cedar Top Round Up?

I have a cedar top Covered Bridge concert with claro walnut back & sides. Lovely warm tone, a bit on the quiet side. More affordable than some of the options mentioned here.
