Hello Guys,

i bought a martin tenor ukulele, but i wonder now if its a vintage one or a newer model?

It has more of a glossy finish and a serial number number in the inside. There is also the "Nazareth" stamp on a stripe of spruce in the middle.

Here are some pictures.

The 'made in the USA' makes it after 1961 (or 1960, or 1962), the serial number narrows that down to 1992. The pin bridge was abandoned soon after (I have to find my Walsh book on the Martin Ukulele, it's here somewhere). It's probably closer to Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's instrument than the commerative one made since 2013.

Vintage but not from the classic 20s-60s era. I hope it sounds great!

Vintagy. Some say Vintage is 20 years old, some say 40 and others say 50....all less than a hundred years old where it becomes antique. Looks like a great uke. I would love to own that one. Congratulations on a nice find. I hope it came at a good price and sounds great. Enjoy it.

Thank you guys. It sounds really warm, nothing like the new Martin's.

I got it no cheap since I thought it was a classic one, but it is worth the money.

I have to discover it's full potential with new strings yet. Don't like Aquillas..

Any string recommendations?
