    New Ken Timms on eBay!

You probably won’t get a reply as he’s 83 years old and only does this as a hobby. 😄

Wooden bridge pin keeps popping out

Thanks for all the replies. I finally understood what you all meant and made sure that the tiny bead I secured at the end of the string sits next to the pin and not under it, but now my issue is that the string snaps! I’m at my wits’ end, I really don’t know why it breaks.

Wooden bridge pin keeps popping out

I’m hesitant to do anything intrusive, especially if it happens again and I need to redo it.

Wooden bridge pin keeps popping out

I have a nice hand built tenor with wooden bridge pins. I changed strings last week and now one of the bridge pins keeps popping out about a full step or so away from its correct pitch. I’ve tried multiple string brands with the same result. I suspect that the pin has just been worn shiny...

    Wunderkammer May Soprano Ukulele

Thanks, the CDS strings are a bit pricey for me as I live in the UK, but I might order a batch at some point if the Martins end up disappointing.

    Wunderkammer May Soprano Ukulele

Good eye! I just remembered that the May was still strung with Aquila Lavas at the time I took the photo. The current strings are clear.

    CDS electric uke

I’m smitten by this model. It seems to be modelled after his Wunderkammer May, because it has the same V neck profile and 13 inch scale. I’ve seen some electric sopranos before, but this is the first one I’ve seen with only 12 frets (15 on the A string) and that seems to be designed with the...

    Wunderkammer May Soprano Ukulele

The May is currently strung with Martin M600 clear fluorocarbons. The Timms I don’t know other than fluorocarbon, because he didn’t respond when I asked him about them. 😄 Open to string recommendations that work with the May’s shorter 13 inch scale. I know Worth Browns don’t work, because the...

    Wunderkammer May Soprano Ukulele

It’s cool how different he builds them. Here’s mine, next to another forum favourite that arrived a couple of weeks ago. 😊

Is 38mm too wide for a soprano nut?

I’ve reached out to a couple of luthiers about a hand built soprano and I’m wondering what would be the ideal nut width. My Snail tenor is 34mm, but I’m thinking maybe I should go for 38mm for the smaller soprano scale. What do you think? I have limited experience with sopranos, is there a...
