Hi everyone, I'm looking for a hardshell case for my Koaloha Opio concert uke. It came with a padded gig bag but I would love to have something like the Oahu case:
http://www.theukulelesite.com/acces...en-cases/new-oahu-hardshell-ukulele-case.html

I wanted to buy one from The Ukulele Site, but shipping to Austin would cost ~$25, which is more than half the cost of the case itself.

Does anyone have a similar one (used, excellent condition) for sale? I know it's unlikely, but it doesn't hurt to ask :).

If anyone in the Austin area is about to purchase a uke from them and needs something extra to make it to $400 for the free shipping, would you be interested in combining our purchases?

Thanks,
Tina

In case your Austin-connection plan doesn't work out, I'll mention that the total cost of $70 (if you bought the case by yourself) is about what that type of hard case would cost from a seller other than The Ukulele Site (see http://www.zzounds.com/item--KALTCC?siid=134038 ). I know what you mean about the shipping being so high, but I believe their low price is because it's their own company. So it might be worth it to pay the shipping. (By the way, I have an Opio concert, too . . . and I'm enjoying it as much as any uke I've owned.)

I have been pretty happy with these cases on eBay protecting our Mainlands for $35 (shipped).

It isn't as nice as the O'ahu that my Pono came in...but it isn't $44.99 plus $25 shipping. There are other options, too.

It is snug with the Mainland Concerts. I also bought some of these for our Mainland Sopranos (smaller size case) and there was more room in there around the headstock.

I may be buying one of these (tenor sized) for my Opio, which is living in the O'ahu case right now.

Hi Dave, I agree that the Oahu case is worth $70 (or more) if sold elsewhere or compared to other cases of that quality. I would feel better if The Ukulele Site sold it for $70 with free shipping instead of paying $25 to UPS or Fedex. So I though I'd try my luck with Austin connections first :) and/or look for an used one in great condition (however unlikely that may be).

Hi ChoirGuy, thanks for the link. It's good to know that you've had good experiences with these cases. There are so many options on eBay and Amazon.com but it's hard to tell the quality or the fit. I'm hoping I'll get lucky with an used case, but if not I'll definitely look into this one. Thanks!
