I thought of doing this a decade or so ago when I bought my first Baritone but didn't know anything about scale lengths, strings, and tensions. I gave up and forgot about it... until today. I was going to donate this uke, but instead gave it a new reason for being.

Restring a Soprano for DGBE one octave higher:
E .0157" Savarez, or LaBellea .016" (Same pitch as mandolin E and an octave higher than soprano E)
B .022" D'Addario NYL022 (An octave higher that a Baritone B)
G .032" D'Addario NYL032 (Same pitch as Soprano "high" g)
D .036" Standard Soprano C string, tuned up to D

My first impression is really good. It's nice using Baritone fingering on a Soprano.
Quite a joy, actually. Strings settling - will report back.

Southcoast had a set specifically designed for this. I never tried it though

Yes, I have sopranos in mandolin GDAE. By comparison, the difference is how "compact" chords sound in DGBE.

I just tried it with a Dunlop .46 pick and you can mimic mandolin chop chords with it. The .46mm picks are quite soft and won't hurt the nylon strings, but if you know how to control a pick a .60mm would be better. I just use my fingers.

BTW, it is a Kamehameha SP-10; a spontaneous purchase during lockdown.)
